Certificate For Court Reporting

Bloomfield College in New Jersey will become the only local institution to offer on-site court reporting instruction and two certificate programs beginning in January 2020. The certificate programs are designed to prepare students for careers in scoping and judicial court reporting and captioning. What ignited the spark to create these programs was the National Court Reporter Association’s report that there are 5,500 job vacancies due to a lack of qualified applicants and an aging workforce.

More than 60% of court reporters and captioners make at least $60,000 annually with salaries projected to increase by 14% through 2020. The new certificate programs will enable students to prepare for jobs in the court systems and careers in closed captioning and television closed captioning.
