Broadening Horizons In Court Reporting

Veritext Legal Solutions, a leading company in deposition and litigation support solutions, introduced a
new continuing education unit or CEU for court reporters called “Support Service Providers: Examining
the Benefits of Using a Scopist and Proofreader.” It is a NCRA-accredited webinar that introduces court reporters to what scopists and proofreaders can do for them that will enhance their reporting. The webinar would also provide insights that would enable court reporters to understand how to use these services for their benefit.
The webinar is said to also discuss the pros and cons of using these support services sharing real
examples of when to and when not to use a scopist or proofreader, issues around the economics and
psychology of hiring support, and confidentiality and business concerns.
The webinar would be taught by a panel of expert court reporters who would share best practices for
employing scopists and proofreaders, terms and conditions to outline informal agreements, and tips for
finding and choosing the right support provider.
The CEU was developed by well-regarded court reporters and thought leaders in the court reporting
community such as Cheryl Mangio, Rosalie Kramm, Merilee S. Johnson, and Andy Fredericks, Veritext
Director of Operations in California. It is a free webinar worth one hour of NCRA CEU credit and scheduled to be taught on August 28, September 18, and December 11.
